The voodoo King Of Mardi Gras

He steps from the veil with a grin full of riddles,
a skeleton dressed in midnight velvet and voodoo charm.
Feathers dance on his crown like whispers of spirits,
and skulls bloom like flowers—painted, proud, and watching.
Behind him, the world blazes and bleeds—
fire and shadow, rhythm and blues.
In one hand, he clutches mischief; in the other, memory.
Is he a trickster? A guide? A guardian of stories long buried beneath bayou mud?
He is the heartbeat of New Orleans after dark,
where laughter echoes through cemeteries,
and even death can’t resist the music.
